Mathias Beche is a new driver at Nielsen Racing.
The Swiss racer will share the ORECA 07 Gibson with Ben Hanley and Rodrigo Sales in the upcoming Asian Le Mans Series, which starts on 11 February in Dubai.
Beche has loads of sportscar experience. He has raced many LMP2 races, but was also part of the Rebellion LMP1 outfit. He took a break from ACO racing, but returned for the 2022 season with TDS Racing x Vaillante in the European Le Mans Series, and instantly returned to top form. He smashed all the opposition by claiming Pole Position in the opening round at Circuit Paul Ricard, and repeating that later in the year at Monza.
He was part of the ARC Bratislava outfit through some of the 2022 season, where he also brought good pace to the team.
Nielsen Racing hasn’t announced their full plans beyond the Asian LMS, but the team confirms that Beche will be doing more than just the four Middle Eastern races for the team.
Hanley and Sales already shared the car in 2022 at Nielsen Racing, where Matt Bell was the third driver. He will be sharing a car with Tony Wells in the LMP3 category, so he doesn’t have the chance to race in the LMP2 car this year. Bell, Hanley and Sales won the LMP2 category in 2022, and by doing so, they claimed an entry for the 24 Hours of Le Mans – something they hope to repeat this year.
The Asian Le Mans Series 2023 will consist of two races at Dubai Autodrome, with the final being run one week later at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.
