United Autosports are ready with their second car for the 2023 European Le Mans Series.
It will be all-familiar faces onboard the ORECA 07 Gibson #23.
Paul Di Resta will share the car with Jim McGuire and Guy Smith.
Di Resta has been with UA for many years, but a bit on-off depending on his tasks around Formula 1. He was part of the 2020 24 Hours of Le Mans LMP2 winning crew, and has since become a works driver for Peugeot TotalEnergies in FIA World Endurance Championship.
He will also be sharing a car with Jim McGuire in the Asian Le Mans Series, which starts in two weeks’ time in Dubai. McGuire has already done seven seasons for UA until now, but most of that has been in LMP3 material. He did do the past two seasons in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in LMP2, so he already knows some of the challenges ahead.
He shared the IMSA car for five races with Guy Smith, so that pairing already know each other too. His biggest win is no doubt the 2003 24 Hours of Le Mans, where he was a Bentley Boy alongside Dindo Capello and Tom Kristensen. He has done many thousands of kilometres in sportscars since, including his many years with Dyson Racing in the American Le Mans Series. He became a Bentley Boy once again, when they entered the Continental model in GT3 racing.
The team announced their first car a couple of months back, with Andy Meyrick, Daniel Schneider and Nelson Piquet Jr being named as drivers in another ORECA 07 Gibson.
It was also announced today, that they will enter a third car – but without mentioning any names yet.
The European Le Mans Series 2023 starts on 23 April at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain.
